Mine cost around 1000 to install and everything but I always have problems with it. Since I am in a wooded area also there are critters and such that dig up around the line and I constantly and haveing connection issues and then I dont realize the fence isnt working until after my dogs are half way down the damn street.

Also I have a black lab, an akita, and a german shepard and they are so smart even smarter than the fence. The way mine is set up it beeps at a slow pace and then as they get closer the beeps get louder and faster adn are accompanied my little shocks that get stronger as the dogs get closer and over the line. My dogs have a tendency to stand at the line to where it beeps to kill the battery and then they run over the line and never get a shock. So depending on what type of dog you have you may want to look out for this.

What kind of dog are you trying to keep in????
A lot of the medium sized breeds (like Labs) can quickly figure out that if they are going full speed when the cross the fence, it won't go off. Then they start spending more time outside the fence than they do inside. For no other reason than they can. Building a dog run is a far better idea.

They make wireless ones also. It has a transmitter that sends the signal to the collar. If the dog goes too far, it gets zapped.
After you plug in the transmitter, you have to go around the yard with the collar to determine the area it covers. They usually come with flags or something to mark the boundaries, and cost around $300.
I don't know about the invisible fence though.

The larger the area you are fencing the heavier gague wire you will need to transmit the signal.
I have no clue as to price.
I only can attest to how well or not so well they work. And that denpends on the dog. Some dogs do well with it but others run through it all the time.

It also depends on how hard it is for them to dig into the ground. If it's wooded or heavily covered with brush it's a lot harder and more expensive for them to put the wire in the ground. It's better if you let them come out and give you an estimate. Probably cost you at least $700, and that's if it's easy for them to put it in the ground.

DON'T DO IT!!!!
An UTTERLY USELESS & expensive POS!!!!
They DON'T *WORK*!!!!
THINK about it,eh??

Will NOT keep anybody or anything OUT!!! So,your dog can be STOLEN or KILLED!!
IF you dog gets out (& LOTZ ignore the shock & blast through!!) it WON'T come back IN!!

I HATE to "anthropomorphise" BUT..would you be STUPID enough to let a 2 yo CHILD loose UNSUPERVISED on an ACRE???? DON'T waste your money & ENDANGER your dog!!!
