I have a labrador at the moment and she is getting old (11 now) and I am thinking about haing another but the hair lying around from 2 labradors would be unbearable I think!
So basically looking for a retreiver that is as intelligent as a labby with a different coat!

BTW I am In the Uk and over here dogs do moult ..you keep tools in a shed!
If you require lessons on how to speak english please come over to England the place and learn to speak your language corretly!
Btw the Pilgrims fathers dogs would have moulted too!

I always thought that was just one of the downsides of the breed? I have two golden retrievers and they do moult a bit, but it's totally worth it. Regular grooming can help though.

Americans say shedding, Brits say moulting. Leash/lead. Take out/take away. We don't use the same language but this is Yahoo UK.
Just comb your dog once a day to cut down the amount of loose hair dropping off. Better on the comb than on the carpet!
Flat coated retreivers have longer, softer hair. I find that the short wiry hairs work their way into fabrics, but longer hairs tend to sit on top and are easier to remove.
I also got a rubber brush whoch lifts hair off better than the hoover.

You might want to look into the Curly Coated Retriver. They do shed, but I don't think they shed quite as much as Labs.
Contact the Curly Coated Retriever Club of America
http://www.ccrca.org/
and they should be able to tell you if one would meet your needs.

Honey, all dogs shed, no matter what breed..You need to decide if you can put up with that...and if you can, would you rather short hair or long hair laying around? The hair comes with the dog!

Sorry but all retrievers are going to "shed", they are all double coated breeds. But don't worry, since none of them have feathers, they won't moult. ;)

Hmmm, ever tried waxing it? I have 3 labradors and the hair is pretty bad, but other than waxing them, get used to the hair toots!

they have crossed a labradour with a poodle to create a dog that is suitable for people that suffer from allergies as it doesn't moult. Check out this site to find more out about this breed, it might be what your looking for. They actually look surprisingly attractive and cute.

why dont you just put the next one in a plastic bag that should do the trick and you could cut holes for the legs and tie it at the neck
