Actually, many Japanese, Chinese and Korean people do speak English. Nearly all asian students get at least a few years of English study in school. If you try to speak to older asian people, they probably will not understand you but most young people will have some knowledge of English, especially through exposure to American culture and products.

Please also consider the fact that many Americans come off as being rude and pompous. Many foreigners who speak English pretend not to so they can avoid confrontations will nasty Americans.

Because that's not their main language for their culture, they speak Japanese in Japan, Chinese (various types it depends on where you are if it's Cantonese or Mandarin) in China, and Korean in Korea. DUH.
