You get both believer scientists and unbeliever scientists

You get women believers and men believers...different races and ethnic groups of different walks of life debate over these subjects...from human beings as young as 7 years to the oldest person on earth...people of different professions...different professionals(both believers and unbelievers)

If you think believers are not clever people, well you get some of the most intelligent scientists to be believers...if you want to call people "unintelligent", you even get "unintelligent" people talking about this subject....

Some people really have to consider the possibility of the existance of the spirit realm...especially atheists...then this would lead them to seek the TRUE GOD!

What do you think? Please no insults or innuendos.

I think that people are taught to 'believe' as small children so it is hard for them to give it up even when they learn enough to know better.

Hitler believed that aryans, a race he sort of made up, were superior to all others and he convinced a whole nation of this. Didn't help him at all. The followers of Jim Jones thought the end had come and all drank the grape kool-aid. Yet we're all still here. Belief means nothing except that humans have powerful imaginations.

Not at all....it's just that the naturalists and free thinkers are fed up with the notion that we're supposed to respect and dignify your imaginary friends and patently ridiculous little fairy tales.

It's not that you're generally unintelligent or lack basic critical thinking skills, because we see you use them in every other aspect of your life -- doing your job, buying a house, deciding whether to loan people money -- but it baffles and frustrates us to no end that you CHOOSE to have this enormous "blind spot" where you refuse to apply the same level of scrutiny and skepticism.

I'm willing to consider -- and even believe -- anything you can prove to me. But extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence to back it up, and the burden of proof falls squarely on the shoulders of the theists -- YOU are the ones claiming there's a "spirit realm" that no one can perceive, that doesn't affect the physical universe in any predictable or reproducible way, and that no one has ever experienced outside of their own mind (through "visions" and "revelations"). If something can't be perceived, doesn't do anything, and can't be independently verified, what does it truly mean when you say it exists? And how does that sort of existence differ from not existing at all?

There are very few actual scientists, as in scientists who have gotten degrees from accredited universities that believe in a personal god.

"A recent survey of members of the National Academy of Sciences showed that 72% are outright atheists, 21% are agnostic and only 7% admit to belief in a personal God." - Nature 23 July 98

There are very few believers in a personal god who have done much in science ever since back in the times when to admit that you didn't believe in a personal god would be a death sentence.

The fact that people believe in gods does not prove anything. People also believe in witchcraft and astrology. People who believe in a personal god are just ignorant of facts. Their numbers are dwindling the further we advance science education.

I am an Ex-Christian who is now an atheist. I am constantly seeking evidence of a spiritual realm, or evidence of anything above and beyond nature. I have, so far, not seen anything to lead me to believe that there is anything except our natural world.

I definitely agree with you and I know my mom would too. We have had numerous discussions about the spiritual realm. There is definitely a whole unseen world out there and there is a spiritual war going on behind the scenes and they are fighting for us! God WILL win! satan is fighting as hard as he can, all you have to do is look at this world and you can see that. He is 'the prince of this world.' But, he will be defeated in the end!!! Kudos on your question!!!
