On our toilet we use something called Spirit of Salts. Its a really strong kinda acid, but honestly you tip it down your toilet and it will then look brand new.
I have tried other acid type products and nothing really does the job proper, with this there will not even be a trace of limescale.
Not sure where you could get it from because we get it from a little shop in our road. If you do get hold of some make sure you clean the toilet seat etc afterwoods and that the window is open when you do it, as it is really strong stuff.

You can use limescale removers to get rid of it temporarily but the surface of the enamel under the waterline has probably become roughned so "it'll be back".
I had similar problem. You'll have to buy new toilet - not that expensive compared to the trauma of sitting over yukky limescale every day!

Put a can of cola down it! The acid will sort out limescale and the other stuff in it should take care of any stains there might be.

Harpic limescale remover, pour it on and leave to do it's work, don't add water until it has done it's work.
Keep it away from stainless steel, because it can etch it and remove the shine.
This is usually caused by a leaking tap or joint etc, fix the leak, tighten the joint stop the drip.

Kaboom! has a toilet cleaner that should be able to take care of the limescale. You should be able to find it at places like Walmart and Target.

I'm with Jude...harpic 100% limescale remover is pretty good, even on very scaley areas, it removes stubborn, caked-on limescale. I don't use anything esle.
