It's the same due to the fact that calorie burning has to do with heart rate. Running down hill requires less effort. Besides you have to run up the hill so you can go down the other side. It all balances out.

I would say that running flat would burn more than running down hill. Try running up the hill!! That would burn more than both!!

i dont it burns any more as it isntthat harder but i think it concentrates more on different leg muscles. try running up the hill to burn more calories

To run on a decline is not the effective as running flat and that's why you get incline and not decline on treadmills.

I would think it burns less. As gravitational engery is helping you to move forward. Im not sure how much less though.

Depends on your speed and incline.

eg. if you are falling (steepest incline), then zero extra calories but watch out for the landing!
