Well to be fair, this isn't the first time. After all, this child's skeleton is of the same family (australopithecus afarensis) as lucy but she is older than lucy by quite some time. Which tells us that A.Af. was an extremely successful genus. Better ability to escape and gather food, combined with a social network laid the groundwork for our own evolution.
But there will be the ill-educated morons out there that will balk and deny and lie... Ignore them. The scientific world certainly does...

no wonder people think evolution entails humans and other primates mating with each other. The child is not a hybrid (1/2 ape, 1/2 human) but rather another link in the chain in the transition from common ancestor to modern man.

However, I think it was rather difficult to deny before as well. Facts are facts and ancient stories are ancient stories and it's best not to confuse the two.

Actually, alot of experts now agree that Lucy was an unusual chimpanzee, and not a "missing link". And if you're an evolutionist, you're a pretty crummy one. Human evolution states we evolved from a common ancestor we share with apes, not apes themselves, as you state. You can't really prove Lucy or her baby are 3,000,000 years old, because carbon-14 dating methods are inaccurate. There is a miner's hat which is fossilized, and is only 50 years old. So it doesn't take millions of years for something to fossilize. There, this "loon" just denied it.

I cant get how people get sooooooooooo excited when the find proof that they are descendants of apes... Oh and was it not Darwin that said the world could not be more than 1 million years old as evidence of more than that is lacking?

I am glad that you consider this to be PROOF. You people jump to more conclusions than any other thinking group of people alive. People have been clamoring about PROOF ever since they found stone tools. Perhaps you should just calm down and use some reason. I doubt you are a scientist, I doubt you understand everything, so instead of calling people loons, perhaps you should take some medication, relax, and do some more reading, as the scientists themselves have said many things regarding this find that go against what you say above.

I am so glad they`re getting closer to solving the evolution theory.
If only we could extract DNA and link it to a living group of humans .
They did this with a tribe of women warriors in Russia,but the link was ancient human to modern human .
It was on the Discovery channel ,The women were of Amazonian size and linked to a family in either Russia or the Ukraine.

Evolution is voodoo science, and there has never been proof of it or else the 'Theory of Evolution' would be called the 'Law of Evolution'. Once a theory is proven true, science no longer calls it a theory but a law, an example is the Law of Gravity.

The Earth is supposed to be 4 Billion years old. Now that's a long time. Who knows. The bible doesn't disallow for that,, it puts no time table on creation, 6 days? how can there be a "day" with out a earth? God forming man from the dust of the earth could be his hand guiding our evolution until the point we warranted a spirit. God can do anything, Otherwise, he wouldn't be God, would he?
