Well, this is a difficult question. I have been vailed since 1990 and never took it off since then; never consider to do or imagine myself doing it. How do I feel about it? I love it. I love myself with it. It is my dignity and pride.

How do people look at you? It depends on who is looking at you. To be honest with you, in my country hijab is suddenly becoming controversial as many people developing a disagreement with the fard (obligation), as many girls getting vailed every day. It is even becoming trendy and lots of nice hijab fashions.

So, if the person looking at you is a believer in hijab as a fard, the reaction will be 'respect' whether they are vailed or not. Many women believe it is a fard, but do not have the courage to take the decision to do it. These admire you the most, especially if you have been vailed for long.

If the person looking at you does not believe in Hijab, whether refuting the theory that it is a fard or knwoing so but does not acknowledge it, then the look will be 'resentment' or 'tolerance' at its best. But deep down, the belief is that you made the wrong decision and took steps backwards away from being modern.

But in both cases, vailed women are less harrassed and bothered by men than not vailed ones.

I hope this answers your question. Thank you again.

May Allah guide us all to His right path.

yes !!! in a society there r many types of ppl livin .. so when u are out without a scarf or hijab , ppl stare at u , in a very harassing manner .. (that is the case with every country).. and when u wear hijab n go out , they jsut dont even bother to look at u as they get to know that u r not CHEAp n vulgar type girl , which will respond to their disgracing eyes !!!
so by wearing a hijab , u are seen with grace!!1

I am not a Muslim----------but I am a woman who finds the Muslim men treat me with much more respect because I usually wear long skirts and loose fitting, at least 3/4 length sleeves, blouses, than they do the women around me who are wearing short skirts, tight pants and shirts, etc.,.

So, the treatment is much different as to how one dresses.

it's not about respect,it's about being free to wear whatever they like without bothering any one,why do u guys get hurt when u see women wearing hijab, while u see that it's normal for others to see naked girls on beaches,or girls with too short skirts or very tight tops?why don't u just leave each one on this planet to do whatever he/she likes?

ive just recently wore the hijjab, bout last year during ramadhan. and the difference is quite clear as how the men treat me wearing it and without. they approach me with much less respect and care and sometimes the eyes wonder too much when unveiled. since i wore the hijjab, ive felt more comfortable and safe. i know some people think its weird but honest! i feel as if im protected!
