evolve downward in some ways. Monkeys or apes are stronger then us, they can use their feet like hands, they have a tail to hang from trees, they can do things that we can do but we must be trained to do those things, and no human can climb, hang or swing like a monkey can and they do that automatically. So..why did we evolve downward?

It is quite funny how some question my intelligence instead of answering the question. So...Why wouldn't we evolve into beings such as monkeys and still have the brain power?

Perhaps you don't understand the theory of evolution.
Try this, put down your pacifier (bible) and pick up a book, you know those other things shaped like a bible, and read them.

Certain traits are somehow beneficial to certain species than others. Evolution tries to understand how and why animals and humans can do certain things and why we don't do other things.
We are still learning about ourselves to this day.

Did you know that omega3 fatty acids are required by our bodies?
Did you know that until recently, baby formula didn't contain any omega3 fatty acids?
This is what scientist learn by exploring and revising theory.
There is so much to learn that we don't even know enough yet to ask the questions to learn.
I make this statement based on historical fact and project it to the future and thereby form a hypothesis, if I do more research about the subject I might form a theory.
I choose this method of learnin instead of picking up a mental pacifier (bible) and spewing forth crap.

I wouldn't say it was downward but I more than see your point. What happened was a trade off...we didn't need to climb as much so that characteristic fell out of use and hence we lost it. We still have the genetic capability for most abilities but since humans do not use these abilities we have to train ourselves to do so.

Generally we make a tool or come up with another way to do things so we don't have to do tasks so physically like an ape or other animal would.

The tails and feet acting like hands is how apes evolved since they live in trees and hence need those abilities...Humans do not live in the trees so we have not evolved those abilities

You've got several good answers here, and the gist of them is this. "Downwards" is an idea that has no meaning in terms of evolution - creatures evolve to deal with the environment they're in, and make the best use of it. We didn't evolve from monkeys, we evolved from a common ancestor, and whereas modern monkeys evolved from ancient tree-dwelling creatures, and thereofre evolve the means to make their environment more conducive to survival - the long, strong tail, the hip and leg configuration that allows quick climbing etc, we evolved from creatures that came down to live on the land - hence the evolution of a straighter spine, a shifted hip configuration, the opposable thumb etc, to help us deal with the challenges of this new environment. It's not that one group is "more" or "less" highly evolved than another - just evolved to meet different environmental challenges is all.

It's not a question of evolving up or downward. There is no heirarchy of animals, with humans at the top of the tree, as Christians believe. It's a matter of adaptation. The success of species is determined entirely by their ability to survive. So far we have managed a couple of hundred thousand years, monkeys have been around many times longer, so they have the runs on the scoreboard, so far.

Christians also believe in evolution, at least they use it to explain how the variety of life forms we see today developed from an arkload. Get with the program.

we walk upright, to evolve this ability required a change in our structure. Forward heavy balance on two legs needed a change in our spinal structure that probably led to the reduction of the tail bone. Feet became more compacted than hands and to cope less agile and the skin thickness dramatically thickened. Evidence for evolution comes form looking at why some thigns are the way they are in humans and not like other animals.

For example, monkeys and apes with hands and feet have fingers for dextrous grasping. But humans use their feet only to walk, so why do they need toes? They're less useful, more of a hindrance. What would be more useful would be padded extremities like a dogs, the padding helps prevent injury and the joint is more capable of handling the weight and movement.

We don't have tails, but we have the trace of one in our spine. Also checking out our spine and shoulders there is a compacting over time, our skeletal system evolved without us being bipedal, and the sudden change has leftovers, back trouble more likely to develop, and check out the knee joint. It's crude, ineffective and easily damaged or develops difficulties. Why is it so badly designed? because it had to evolve rapidly from something more like the elbow joint. Other mammals have much better leg joints but we made do.

Evolution shouldn't be thought of in general terms of up or down. As progress happens slowly ther eis a shift forward as certain general things are developed that are found useful: skeletons in the place of exoskeletons, eyes, cardio-respiratory systems controlling blood flow and air were all large improvements that got carried onto lots of species because of the benefits, by the time fish moved onto land they had most of the best things going for invertebrates already and went from there. Then they evolved to their envirponment. Can monkeys climb, hang or swing better than us? of course. Wolves can run faster and smell prey, zebra can blend in better to the plains. And we can carry loads long distances by walking on two legs, use dextrous hands to create tools and have a mind used to non-linear visual thoughtn for remembering water sources, edible plants and means of using tools efficiently. Because we needed to do these things to survive.

Evolution created traits that are best suited to the environment. There is a misconception that we evolved from apes. This is wrong, we actually share a common ancestor to apes. From this ancestor humans evolved our current traits by living in one environment. Modern apes evolved their traits from living in another environment. One group, or gene pool, lived in the jungle, where strength and agility were far more valuable then being bipedal and gaining intelligence. These became modern apes. Another gene pool lived in the savanna, where strength and agility weren't as important as intelligence and bipedalism.

this is a very quick answer. If you are interested on the subject, I would suggest taking a physical anthropology form a local college.

We didn't "evolve downward". In fact, we didn't evolve from monkeys. We share a common ancestor. Some of this common ancestor evolved into monkeys, and some evolved into humans. Because monkeys evolved independent of us, they have the ability to do some of the things they do. You also didn't focus on the fact that humans were able to develop language, writing, civilization, government, and many other important facets of society.

I hope you mean downwards, as in towards the ground, since many primates are brachiators and live in trees for protection.
The answer should be obvious to anyone with even a modicum of intelligence.
But since you actually question the fact of evolution, I won't bother with an answer, you wouldn't understand anyway and the big words will just hurt your head...

Look evolution happens everyday......

ev·o·lu·tion (v-lshn, v-) Pronunciation Key
n.
A gradual process in which something changes into a different and usually more complex or better form. See Synonyms at development.

The process of developing.
Gradual development.

Do you not evolve each day? I hope that I do.

I strongly suggest you actually READ about evolution before making assumptions based of misinformed hearsay.

That way, you will avoid showing your obvious ignorance of a subject you have NO idea of.
Your first flaw was the mistaken assumption(based again, on what you have HEARD) that homosapiens evolved from apes. With a belief like that, you will only make a mockery out of yourself.

STUDY of non-biblical literature is not "evil"...please tell me you know that!?
