Yes, he still cares for you. Perhaps you need to talk with him face to face one last time and either work things out or tell him that you do not feel the same way and wish him all the best in finding another girl friend.

Regardless of what your old boyfriend wants - you having a fling is a HUGE red flag that something about your relationship is making you unhappy. Be truthful with yourself about your anger/distrust/lack of affection for your "old" boyfriend before you simply try to pick up where you guys left off.

from all indication the guy still loves u ,if not he will still not be sending text mesagges to you and in ur part i perceived u too are in love so keep the blossom budding and dont allow third part interferance again.

If there was a third party involved on your part, it shouldn't matter to you. He may be willing to give you a second chance. Just ask him.
