Everyone knows the only enjoyable bits of the trifle are the jelly/ponge/custard/cream. It spoils the experience picking out all that bloody fruit.

You're quite right. And it's always tinned, cheap fruit, like bits of mushy pear.

I agree with you I hate fruit in trifle and I can't stand sherry in it either, I love to make a trifle with jaffa cakes instead of sponge finger, an orange jelly, custard and cream and grate some chocolate on top, much better than a fruit trifle any day.

Without fruit it would not be a genuine trifle. It would be the height of bad manners if somebody offered you a serving of trifle and you then proceeded to pick out the fruit.

i myself have not figured that out yet i think it totally off sets all of the other layer and tastes but they think it looks pretty and everyone likes that fruit or something but when will they wake up and realize fruit is not in the right place at the right time so they need to learn or even go back and be taught that it does not belong there tell them to look at food network helo most of them do not even put fruit anywhere near the filling well once and a while but i do not know why but someday some one will wake these people up and say i like it all but the fruit must go and i could only tell you where but i will be nice as i would tell them

Veteran of the Boar Wars, are we? Make your own triffle instead of complaining about other people's. I like raspberries in mine; Christmas in Thailand we had a pineapple triffle, quite good.
