Thanks, everyone, for participating in my little social experiment. My question is actually the name of a song from "The Sound of Music". I made identical posts under "News and Events", "Movies", and "Immigration". Guess which group provided the most answers and the only people who spazzed out and got offended?

Were they illegal when they got here? I know they just snuck across the border to Switzerland, but thought they had official status by the time they made the US (asylum or something.)

The Von Trapp family immigrated here LEGALLY. That "Maria" was welcomed. The solution to the problem of the "Maria's" coming here illegally, popping out a bambino every nine months and sucking up the welfare that hardworking, tax paying USA citizens pay for is DEPORTATION!! Her and all her fifteen kids!
