Ok at the risk of being accused a male chauveunistic pig i do have to ask the question and pose my reasons.
If females are better drivers.......why dont they drive professionally in Formula 1 or Rallys or touring championships?
Why does it take the average male 20-25 lessons to learn to trive and the average female 35-40 lessons, sometimes more?
Why cant they reverse in a straight line? or park very well?
The only reason ladies insurance is cheaper is because, you drive slower and more carefully, as you are aware you are less skilled behind the wheel, whereas with us men it is quite the opposite, we think we are more skilled than we actually are.....hence taking more risks.

Nothing Against Women Drivers....
My sister is a driving instructor.....which mean she has an advanced license.....she is an excellent driver.

But young women are generally awful more often than young men and dont get me started on OAPs they shud be banned when they reach 70 yrs old!! male or female!!

The Worst Driver is the Irritated Mother with screaming kids in car dropping them off at school! She never looks where she is going

Hun - there ARE desperate women drivers out there - just as there are desperate MEN drivers out there
With regards to formula one and rallies - Ill have you know I was all signed up to go ahead to be a navigator in a ralley car with a friend of mine (male) but he got talked out of it by fellow male ralley drivers who obviously had the same opinions as you and decided it would be safer to get one of the lads to do it!!
Having said that - bet Id leave you eating my dust in a car
anyday!

A golf??? hahahahahahaha!!!!!! Oh please love - bring it on!!

1) Motorsports are traditionally a male domain simply because men seem to feel the need for speed more so than women. It's not exclusive though - there are a fair amount of women partaking in motorsports. I belong to the Lotus 7 club, and at our regular time trial meets there are quite a few women - who do rather well, might I add!

2) It takes the average learner 40-45 hours of tuition to get to test standard. There is no correlation between male/female on this. Statistics show that a higher percentage of females pass on the first attempt than males.

3) It's true that some women are not so adept at parking. However, there are plenty of men out there who are also pretty useless at it! Having been an ADI for a few years, I have to admit that the boys were generally quicker to grasp parking and reversing skills than the girls - but not always so. I think it's down to a mixture of spatial awareness and confidence. It's pretty well known that men have better spatial awareness than women, but nobody seems to know why

4) You were doing so well until your last paragraph! It's true that women's car insurance is cheaper because on the whole they are more careful drivers. I very much doubt that this is because they think they drive at a sub-standard! Women KNOW that neither themselves or their vehicle is invincible, as opposed to a lot of men who believe that their car is a protective cage around them which nothing or no man can penetrate!

There are good and bad drivers in both genders.
Women tend not to be racing drivers because it does demand a lot of physical strength to compete successfully, and I suspect that there aren't the opportunities available to them.
Reversing and Parking - hate to puncture your bubble here but I've seen some dire manouvres performed my men as well. It is a known fact that womens spacial awareness is not as good as mens and reversing and parking require this ability.
As for the Insurance issue well I think it is about time that anomoly was revised. There are some extremely dangerous female drivers out there performing manouvres I would never even consider, and the number of times I've almost been sideswiped because their so busy talking to their friends!!
My gender - Male

Thou art mistaken in thine assumption that there are no women drivers.

In 2005 already, this could be read:

"When the green flag drops on the 89th edition of the Indianapolis 500 Sunday, one of the most intriguing contenders will be a young rookie with impressive driving skills, powerful financial backing, and head-turning marketing flair.

Oh, she's also a woman.

Meet Danica Patrick, one of several female race-car drivers shifting gears on gender in the motorsports world. A generation ago, pioneers such as Janet Guthrie and Lyn St. James proved women could win an occasional slot in big-time races. Now, Ms. Patrick and a handful of female drivers are threatening to beat their male competitors. "

Especially remember that last line: female drivers are threatening to beat their male competitors!!!!

Fact of the matter is, the racing world is a male dominated world, in which a woman will have a hard time finding a place - not because of lack of skill, but just because it is a male dominated world.

The difference is that women know they are better drivers, whereas men THINK they are. We have nothing to prove to anyone about our driving capabilities. Men for some unknown reason, have to prove to anyone and everyone that they are better drivers hence F1 drivers are male.
However, some women are crap drivers, don't know how to reverse and can't park. Just like there are some men who are crap drivers. I myself admit to not being able to park so well first try. (I can reverse in a straight line though).
Point is, why risk your life by driving fast/dangerously? Cars are for getting you from A to B. When I see someone drive fast/dangerously I don't think 'wow, he's such a good driver', I think 'idiot, have some respect for other peoples' lives if you don't have any for your own'.

I, like you, have had my driving license for four years and it is squeaky clean but it does not mean I am a c**p driver. I have been told I am the best female 'off-roader' that has ever been through the driving course near us and I do a lot of off-road 'stunts' that most men I know are too scared to undertake, and if they do try they usually fail. I am aware that there are women out there who make us all look bad, everyone knows this. But bear in mind some of us are VERY skilled at handling our vehicles and not afraid to prove it to any man who tries to tell us differently!

Men might be called better drivers because men are on average taller than women making men able to see better when reversing and so on. I've been in two accidents, none were my fault but it just happen to be two women that hit me. I'm guessing there are more women than men so you don't have an accurate sample size of both men and women. Oh and I'm no nancy boy I have a Suzuki TL1000 and I will beat anything male or female on this board.

My girlfriend turns into an excellent driver when she's driving me to and from the pub or parties so I can shift an Ale or 2.

I gotta agree with alot of what you said.
My biggest hatred after lorry drivers is the OAP that insists on driving 45mph all the time regardless of what the speed limit is >:(

Simple - we are far more intelligent and take the time to ingest all info given and have the common sense to realise being stupid on the roads is a health risk and we consider others aswell as ourselves, thereby choosing not to put other peoples lives at risk and maiming or killing innocent people.
Not only that we are not selfish either and think about the families we may leave behind.
Fortunately for us we are not an arrogant species!!!!!
