Funny how people judge the answers not on the substance but on grammar. Forgetting the facts not all answerers are born American or English.

I try to only answer questions that I know the answer too.

I can only answer a question with an answer that works for me. I try to stick with my own personal experiences and my own personal truths. The person asking the question already has in their mind the kind of answer they are looking for.
As to the people that judge on spelling, you need to just roll right past them and not let it get you upset. If they can't be bothered with the question then it is their loss.

If I know an answer, and have time to write it, I'll answer.

If I don't know, I ignore it.

If it completely stumps me, I'll reply, just so I can find out the answer later on.

And, yes, I know that many people who reply here aren't American. However, when answering, since I generally don't know the equivalent of an American thing in other nations or languages, I will refer to the American thing, and hope for the best that they understand.

I usually know the answer. A lot of the answers I give, however, are to questions that ask for opinions. In those cases, sometimes, I'll give my opinion and then read other answers and find myself thinking their opinion is more eloquent and targeted than mine. Sometimes, too, if they are more of a Google type question (they would've been better of Googling), and the subject peaks my curiousity, I'll try to Google before the other Answers Google.

I never answer solely for the two points.

Sometimes I ask rhetorical questions, but mostly I want to hear other opinions or I don't know the answer at all and I need to find out.

In some cases I only share my opinion, based on my beliefs, culture and education. But in other cases I really know the answer.
