Does anyone know why this happens? The kids were so looking forward to her 1st litter. No live kittens came from this. We called the vet when she started running over due but they said to continue and see how she progresses. Well, the 1st one was born with out a sack, and the 2nd one looked like it was covered in micodium. They were born at 68 days I know the average is 63, so I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and do you think that at 5 years old, she was too old to have kittens? We want her to try again, but afraid to be devastated again. Any good news in this very sad week? Thanks, Lea:)

Poor her....
she isn't too old to have kittens.. so either they have got stuck in the birthing canal... or they died inside her..
You should check their mouths when first born.. if their wee tongues and inside mouth was blue then they suffocated indicating this problem...
However she could still have kittens there . Average litter is 4...
You might need to stand by and when the kitten arrives.. rub it with a warm towel to get the circulation going .. rub hard..clear mouth from mucus.
Good luck.. hope she gets one kitten it can be very traumatic for them if they loose them all

Sorry to hear bout your kitties it may not be the right thing to let her and your family go though that again, I think she might be to old to have kittens but if this does happen again grab a kitten use a soft face washer or something soft put the towel round the kitten (not covering the face) gently hold the kitten and stroke its chest to help the air ways and make sure that when you do this you have the kitten upside down in a secure position
if you look in google thier might be some sites to reviving a kitten well i hope this helps you in the future best of luck

my cat gave birth to 5 dead kittens because they were a week to early and she was to young,5 is a bit old for a cat to be having healthy kittens i wouldnt put her thru any more stress as it could be her that dies next time,Did you try and revive the kittens whenthey were born as some cats like mine dont know how to deal with the birth,i am sorry this happened i cried buckets along with my daughter and her boyfriend when we lost ours

Please have her spayed. Not only are there already too many unwanted cats in this world, you shouldn't put her through that again.
