I've never heard of it as I'm not Catholic but I've been asked to buy one for a wedding that I'm going to abroad. Does anyone know where I can get one?

Not Catholic, but we used one for our handfasting. Just go to any decent fabric shop and have a look at the cords they stock. You can get good quality rope-looking cords for £dirt cheap.

I've never heard of the catholic religion, but there is a pagan /wiccan tradition called a handfasting rite, that is when two people marry in a wiccan tradition and that uses a rope. you can get a rope at fabric outlets

They are pulling your leg. I suggest you take some shoelace candy and offer it in all seriousness.
