my wife and I are not American, but we are in US legally with a visa. We would like to know what we should do in order to get our child a certified birth certificate in order to get him a passport to travel. thanks for your help

Contact the clerk of the court in the county where your child was born. Not hard ... probably costs $10 for them to go look it up, copy it and send you a certified copy.

Both of you are legal, and your son was born in the US, which means he is automatically granted a US citizenship by birth. I don't know exactly where you can get the birth certificate, but you can ask anyone, from your friends to the hospital where you gave birth where to get the birth certificate. After you get that, you can go to the nearest post office to apply for a passport.

It can all be done on line ,the first answer is correct.And for an extra charge you can get it in 24 hours.Go to the State of Texas web site and you will find it there under vital statistics.A certified copy is only made from the records that are on file,you yourself can not have one made any where else.Just follow the rules.

Why doesn't your child have a birth certificate? I hope you are able to prove this child isn't stolen. I would be suspicious.

call by phone the vital statistics the charge is around 30$ they will mail it to you .or you can mail it to them along with paperwork call them first what ever the countys name was first then vital statistics good luck..
