BGA stands for "Ball Grid Array" and is commonly used in high density integrated circuit packages such as FPGAs and processors. 0402 and 0201 are discrete packages used typically for surface mount resistors and capacitors. The numbers actually refer to the size of the package. Example, 0402 packages are 0.04 inches by 0.02 inches. 0201 packages are 0.02 inches x 0.01 inches. There are others, like 1206, 0805, and 0603. There are also other packages for surface mount transistors, diodes, and other integrated circuits.
