I was sitting here reading some questions/answers, and eating some pringles. Nothing too exciting. Then I happened to glance at the information on the pringles, and what do ya know, english/spanish. Now curious, I looked at my apple juice container. English/spanish yet again. I am looking at all these different things now, and almost all of them, or at least a good majority, have both english and spanish on them.

Why is this?

I lived in Germany for 6 years. You know what? Their boxes and cartons did not have German/English on them, or better yet, German/Turkish, since turks seem to make up the biggest immigrant population in Germany. Nope, it's all german there. Always will be too. They don't cater to people coming into their country and expecting everything to be in both languages.

Why should we have to do this for the Mexican population in the US? They are in OUR country, the least they could do is learn our language and use it. They should conform, not us! Sick of it.

I refer to a quote I heard on some talk radio show, which I absolutely loved.. he said:

"Why should I have to press 1 for english?"

"Look, dumbass, your ancestors didn't speak
the language of the Native Americans now, did they?

America is a country of immigrants.

Your ancestors were immigrants.

So stop being so damn racist and accept it.

And quit wearing that white pointed hood... it's silly."

1) You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. My relatives did indeed migrate to america, and you know what they did? They learned to speak english and conformed, because they moved to a country they fell in love with long before ever having seen it. They came here to build on their hopes and dreams, not to live off the system and expect everyone to cater to them. My family is quite successful, so don't even talk to me about my ancestors.

2) I am not racist. I do not dislike mexicans, I dislike what they are doing to MY country. I dislike the fact that they come over here illegally and expect us to conform to their wants and needs in order to provide a better life for them.

Both my husband and I agree with you.
English, period.
Our ancestors had to learn the language of this country, and spoke broken English.. what they did not know, someone was nice enough, and respectful enough to help out..
We are tired of this split language - on containers - phone information, etc. It's n ot just the Spanish, it's all the other languages. I mean no offense to the people, but damn it, you're in this country, learn the language!
Here, in WI, there are some villages, towns, and half cities where you won't find any English spoken.. Excuse me??!!!!!!

America today, is not the same America created by our founders. It's sad to think of all that was sacrificed, by those who believed in America. They loved the idea so much, they willingly gave their lives, so it could be protected, preserved and passed on to US. It's been such a short amount of time since this country was founded, to see the level of appreciation for the USA is disgraceful. US Citizens don't know or don't even give a sh*t, to learn US History. People have no clue and no appreciation for what WE have here, because they refuse to understand how/why it was created and what has it gone through to get US to this point?
The phrase "Love it or Leave it" has completely baffled the lazy. It's not "Bend over, take it in the a$$ or Leave it" It's "Love it", care enough about it to know what the heck it is. "Or Leave it", you don't have to leave the country, to "Leave it". If you ignore it, you've left it. Left the door open for others to destroy it. That's what is happening now. These illegals don't care about the US, they didn't care about their birth country. They don't want to be part of our system and it's the greatest system in the world.
We are letting illegals use race/color to make US feel bad. And it's working, on those that have forgotten history. Slavery once existed in the US, but it wasn't Americans running the slave trade... It was Spain, Portugal and for a short time England. England abolished slavery first, Spain however continued it long after agreeing to stop. Spanish people were just as, if not more responsible for slavery, than Americans. Some Americans owned slaves, More Americans didn't. We carry the guilt of slavery, yet rarely credit ourselves for abolishing it.
Lets discuss Native Americans, it was the Spanish who enslaved Natives. The Spanish brought disease and wound up killing millions with small pox. After that, they went to Africa to enslave blacks. All the South American countries, speaking Spanish, know where it originated and why they speak that language. The Spanish invaded, colonized and to this day remain in those countries.
The Illegal immigration issue got serious only when we found a tunnel running under the border, then we found another, so far we've found 39.
This is not illegal immigration, this is an Invasion.

Most Northerners didn't agree with slavery and wanted to end it. They took many steps to contain it, before going to War. During this time, blacks were the fastest growing population. 1860, in Mississippi and South Carolina blacks outnumbered whites. If the North didn't care about abolishing slavery, didn't care about keeping the country in one piece or thought "war is not the answer". Eventually, southern blacks by sheer number could've defeated southerners and southern slave owners.
Who is the fastest growing population in the US today... they're the biggest population forcing their way in, illegally, they're the biggest population demanding a right to be here/work here, yet don't want to be a member of the system???
If WE all start speaking Spanish, we'll once again be a colony and another country conquered by Spain.

For now, America is still America but not for much longer if the illegal entry of Spanish-speaking Mexicans continues.

Didn't a lot of these same illegal queue-jumping Mexicans recently participate in mass demonstrations in the USA demanding that they be granted American citizenship while at the same time waving the MEXICAN flag? Such an action just boggles the mind! Where does the loyalty of these opportunistic Mexicans lie?

Preservation of the use of English as the common language in America is not RACISM. It is the unifying thread that keeps the country together.

If Spanish or any other language for that matter becomes the new "official" language of America, the USA is no longer the USA.

As an afterthought. Those Americans who hire the cheap illegal Mexican workforce are guilty of destroying America for their personal profit. They should lose their American citizenship!

Maybe they could then be sent to Mexico where I am sure they would have to learn Spanish to survive.

OH THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I have wondered the same thing minus the pringels, I believe if we are going to have a choice for pushing buttons for our languages or instructions it should be for all immigrants more the ones who came here to Eilis Island and started this melting pot, who came here not looking for a hand out and proud to be here and proud to become an American ......... not like some......and I would like to add the Spanish Mexicans speak is different than Spanish Spaniards speak
1 more thing when people came many years ago they learned English and spoke their language at home and did not except us to learn theirs........go to Miami

OK off my soap box

You are correct, every time, i get mail, in Spanish, I shred it,
every time a telemarketer, calls and tries Spanish on the phone,
I hang up,It only makes me feel better.
Yet I will not conform, I call the people, who send, their mail, in Spanish and English, and let them know, I shred, unless they
send it in English. I will not conform. I am fluent in three Languages, Other people who come here , should learn ,our
Language.. After all this is America.

Remember when Walmart got it's business started....

It's motto was

AMERICAN RUN
AMERICAN MADE

Which led us to believe that Walmart was run by Americans and the only products were made in America.

After they became mega successful off the backs of Americans, they changed their tatics.

Now it's

ANYWHERE MADE
ILLEGALLY RUN

Which means that all over the world, sweatshops are using children to crank out goods at, what? 25 cents an hour....to "offer cheaper goods to Americans" BULL....those sweatshops are run to create huge profits for Walmart...on the backs of children in India, China, Malaysia, wherever.

Illegally run...Oh yeaaaaaaahhhh....Walmart has enough in its coffers to pay out over 11 million dollars in fines in Florida for hiring illegals.

Have they stopped?

NO

It's cheaper to pay the fines than to get rid of the illegals.

While I know we are economically, a global being...the truth is there has always been international commerce. Talk to Columbus...he was floating around the ocean trying to find a better way to the Orient.

BUT, it is America and until Americans demand we be treated with respect in our own country...

it ain't agonna happen!

We must fight to protect our country! It is turning slowly...America, the beautiful women of freedom and Liberty's, is growing blemishes of disgrace and laziness. Since when do we allow people...who are not even suppose to be here...change our country? We are not there's to mold! Why should we speak a language foreign to us? Why should we loose our jobs to the illegals? Why must our economy suffer because of the ignorance of a few? Because...we have done nothing to stop it. Its time we get together and stop this problem...because it is spreading like a disease...slowly toxifying our lovely America.

very frustrating. It's not required to print spanish like that, but like it or not, those little dudes are spending money here and the boys in marketing know that. They know that the mexicans main goal is to be "JUST LIKE US!" cept acourse the language thing. CA did something about it. The rest will follow.
