Yes all casinos in the UK have to be joined. You join the casino, pay the fee (if there is one), and then you cannot come back for 24 hours. However, once you are a member you can go whenever you want. Also if you know someone is a member, they can take you in, even if you are not a member. However, keep in mind that if you sign up to be a member you cannot even be on the property for 24 hours. So if a friend can take you go in first with them, play, have fun, and then sign up for membership on your way out. Then you will be a member by the time you want to go back.
To iswd1: Honestly, that is a really retarded statement. Gambling laws in America are insanely strict. Most states outlaw casinos completely. Some require the thing to be on a boat, which is just plain stupid, and many that are on Indian reservations ban wheels of chance and cards, so everything has to be video based.
America has just passed a law to completely outlaw online gambling in the US. This stupid law, if approved by the Senate, will actually force ISPs to block links to gambling sites like they do in China, and will allow the government to check your bank account to see if you paid any online gambling winnings into it; even if you have never gambled online ever.
America also just arrested a guy who runs a gambling web site on a trip from England to the Caribbean, when he had a stop over in Dallas. He was arrested for simply running an offshore gaming site legally. American companies and major casinos cannot even run online gaming sites.
In England they have slot machines in most bars and night clubs, they have bookies in every town, and you can legally gamble at the age of 18. When you win the lottery, you get the exact prize they advertise with no tax or deduction for taking a lump sum, and it's 10 times easier to win the jackpot. When you win money in a casino or at the bookies, it is not taxed, like it is in America (when you win more than $1200).
To try and claim that England has this horrible draconian outlook on gambling, while also claiming that America is land of the free is woefully ill-informed.

The 24 hour cooling off period was removed some time ago. You can now play immediately.

Yet another reason I'm glad I'm American. Who does the government think they are that they can tell you when you can go or not go, or how much of your own money you can spend? Good lord, how stuck up!
