I don't think this world is done being created. It isn't dormant. There are mountains still being formed, lakes drying up into lands and deserts, floods pushing away plains to become new lakes. This world is not completed yet. You can go further and find that new species are emerging daily. If God is willing to keep on creating all these new things why would he not expect the people to change and send them a new book?

At the time the thoughts expressed in Genesis were first spoken, and then later written, do you think anyone alive could comprehend the notion of millions, or billions? Most likely why dietary prohibitions were included in the old testament. Pork, if not processed correctly, it did and will today, cause illness and death. Lots of things in the Bible are just common sense stuff, some still apply, some don't. I hear dem fundamentalists getting ready to attack again.... Six days, or 4 billion years, the end result is the same if you have faith and believe it. If it doesn't give you comfort to believe about the God that the Christians and Jews believe in, then don't. Absolutely your choice. God doesn't change, but religions MUST change as new things are discovered. People of the past explained as best they could, we do the same, people of the future will do better.

The world means the systems of life in the earth or on any other planet.
In the book of Genesis Ch.1:1 its says In the beginning God created Heaven and Earth (Universe) He then recreated the world here on earth during that 6 days.
Read the Holy Bible and pray to God to let you understand the hidden meanings. surely you will understand.

A day for god is as a thousand years for humans...Basically, god knew that humans are too dumb to understand millions of years, and most can't count beyond seven, so he made it easy--he took billions of years, but he told the simple-minded humans it was six days so as not to boggle their weak, little minds with numbers like millions or billions or, god forbid, trillions.

I would have asked: with all the attributes ascribed to God concerning His abilities and capabilities to say "be", and it will be, why did he not command the world to be in a jiffy? Six days, to me, is blasphemy by the originators of the story of creation, not to mention the added insult of saying that He rested on the 7th day! What a fallacy!

It dosent matter to us if he created world in six days or thousand days or whatever....
OR does it really matter to u???
Our task is just to follow the path told us to follow...

Don't listen to religious folks that it was mistranslated wrongly. I can't believe they got away with saying crap like that by claiming its only mistranslations.
God probably did it in six days to show how mighty He really is. Bad thing was that he did a really bad job at it
