I think the best suggestion someone has come up with in these answers (and it might even have been just a fun idea) is 'Roots'. Think of Fafandloo who says her salon is called Blades and definitely take note of what one person said about the best modern salons having a simple, memorable, one-word name.

Roots is absolutely perfect. It means so many things - obviously the hair meaning, then there's the fact it's your enterprise so you're rooted there and also, it does link to the Irish tradition because Ireland is famous worldwide for the potato and other root vegetables.

Roots is just the kind of word you can see above an ultra cool salon. I can see the logo in lower case letters looking really modern and inviting. It just implies that the salon is very "with it" when it comes to style. You should strongly consider this as your salon name as it would certainly appeal to today's market.

We have a garden centre near us called Shoots and although there are quite a few others in the area, with names such as Old Barn Nurseries and Garden Pride, Shoots seems to be the most popular because the name is just that bit more up to date and it just works so well as a logo that's really bold outside the centre. Go for Roots - it's the best.

The Gaelic Salon

Glad to see you are not into those dreadful twee names for a salon...today's coolest salons seem to have a simple memorable one word name - which is graphically and creatively expressed for a stronger marketing impact.

A few Gaelic ideas with their meanings...(some admittedly a bit 'jokey')...NOTE: IF you decided on a Gaelic name, then be sure to choose one that's easy to pronounce (or at least looks easy to say)...like say, for example, 'solus' below...otherwise it can be a burden for a business if you can't get recommendations 'cos noone can pronounce the salon name):

[beò]...alive...

[athar] .... -air (get it? oh never mind), air, sky; [also adhar]

[solus] ... light, knowledge

[sona] ... lucky, happy

[speal] ...scythe

[sunnd] .... cheerfulness, good humour

[sùmhail] ... tidily tied up...

[leadan] ...lock of hair...
