Are there any concerns I should have about a puppy that is taken away from is mother this young? The puppy is eating liquified/solid puppy food right now (mostly solid though) and is doing fine. The puppy has been started on its initial deworming treatment and appears healthy in every area.

I currently have a nursing dam with 3 day old puppies. I am currently keeping the "outside" puppy away from the newborns. He will be around other puppies for at least 8-10 weeks, then around the dam.

sounds like the puppy is doing fine... but you're right, it should stay with it's mother longer.
give it lots of TLC and a soft cuddly toy to snuggle up to.

Yes it is way too young. Will it survive? probably. It's not just a matter of eating. The pup should still be nursing. When weaned the pup will still learn doggy things from mom. Ideally a pup should be with mom for 10-12 weeks. That 6 week thing is old and incorrect. They learn social skills from mom. There is more to rearing an offspring than just feeding it.
by the way, i do hope you took the pup to a vet for worming because the otc stuff does not work and can really harm, even kill, your pup.

If you're not willing to spend, then it's not the right time to buy a dog. Unless you want to adopt from a local shelter. These dogs need good loving homes to go to and can cost only a couple hundred. However, they can be very strict on where you live, who you live with and whether you have a fenced yard. If you're looking to buy a brand new puppy out of a litter, buying one for less than $500 will likely come from a BYB and you will most likely be troubled throughout the dogs life with vet bills from health issues.

Anyone who takes a pup less than 8 weeks away from the mother is cruel. Of course circumstances can happen where this isn't possible (the mother dies or something) so you have to keep in mind that this is a tiny baby. This dog might grow up a little less well adjusted than a dog who was left to learn about life with its mum a little longer.

That is way too young. Some states actually have laws concerning this. In my state, I believe the puppy must be 7 weeks old before it can leave its mother. I hope you take your puppy to the vet ASAP! (although I assume the deworming treatment you are talking about is through the vet).

take care!

It's good that you have other dogs, this means that he will have a chance to learn from them.

Once the pup has a clean bill of health, and your pups are old enough, it will be good for them to socialize unless there is too great of a size difference. Supervise carefully to make sure the older pup is not harassing the younger ones.

Does the puppy stay away from people? If it does, I think it IS too young. Dog milk for puppies is the best.

AS several people mentioned dogs learn doggy manners from their mom & littermates, which makes learning people manners much eaisier. If you can at all, as soon as he has his shots find a puppy kindergarden, or day care or just a friend or relative with a dog who likes pups and take him on play dates

We had the same with our kittens. The mum had an infection and she wasn't well, she wouldn't feed the kittens. So to start with i had to feed milk (proper kitten milk from the vet) Through a syringe. Then once they needed more i have to mix water and solid food in a syringe and feed them that.
