Its usually when I am lying down, but the nerves in my legs seem to go all "jumpy". The only way I can stop this, is if I move my legs around, and then it does take a while for them to stop. Has anyone heard of this?

Oh dear! I know exactly how you feel! This is a horrible problem. This happens to me if i feel too hot in bed, I have come up with a kind of a solution though. If it gets too bad, I rub a bit of Deep Heat into my legs, or fill a hot water bottle up with ice cold water and place it over my ankles. I used to get this really bad when I was younger and it used to drive me up the wall, sometimes reduce me to tears. Now that I'm older, it doesn't happen as often. In recent moths, I have noticed that it occurs when I am nervous in any way. For example: I started a new job a few weeks ago and the evening before my 1st day, my legs were all over the place and I was still awake at 3:30 that morning! I have tried to research into it as it is generic (my mum and grandad also have the same problem) but with no success unfortunately. I hope my tips have helped you in any way.

YOU HAVE RESTLESS LEGS SYNDROME!! I HAVE IT TOO! Bless your heart I know what a drag it is. It leaves you tired All the time because it does not allow you to reach extended deep sleep. Some things seem to make it worse: PMS, some drugs (especially street drugs) and definitely low iron or iron deficiency. Watch your caffeine, sugar and stuff like that and talk to a dr. THERE IS A SOLLUTION and you don't have to live like this one more day. You probably don't even realize how affected you are. My ex-husband can tell you that it goes on all night even when you are asleep and it really brings your energy level down during the day. I am taking 2 different meds for mine. One is addictive and I don't reccomend it, but the other is mirapex and I also know that now there are some much better meds available. You have ahealthier happier future right around the corner! Be sure to do something soon because it tends to get worse over time. Good Luck! Love, Cindy

Yes, I used to suffer from this, usually within an hour of eating something. It turns out the food I had eaten was toxic, unfortunately for me it was sugar. Thought Field Therapy can fix this very quickly but you have to avoid whatever food it is that causes it.

Just a possibility but drinking lots of water might dilute the toxin that is causing it.

I got it on an aeroplane flight once and I kept flinging my leg out like a massive twitch it was so irritating like and itch that couldnt be scratched.

See www.anderson-therapy.com if you want to ask a tft therapist what to do. Good Luck

This is called "restless leg syndrome". There is no satisfactory side-effect-free medication for it so leave seeing your GP to a last resort. There is some evidence that regular daily exercise can help, ditto a muscular relaxation technique. Have a look at

which gives details of all the conventional and alternative treatments that may help

The "restless legs" crowd are pretty much on the ball. It's also known as Ekbom Syndrome. It can be linked to hormonal imbalances, either coonnected with your periods or stress levels. I get it worse when I am due to have my period, I can't sleep for 3 or 4 days beforehand.

This definitely sounds like restless leg syndrome. It's fairly common and not much to worry about. Have a chat with your doctor.

I get that and i have been asking other people if they get it and they just look at me like i am mad. It is so irritating. It is like the nerves are jumping in your leg and they are also itchy but you cant scratch it cause it is inside. I usually twist my ankle round for ages just and bend my knees just to relieve it. I thought i was going mad.
