i would go back to the doctors personally and if you get the same advice ask 4 a 2nd opinion. also try and talk to a health visitor and get there views on it it could be psychological or something wrong with his digestive system. keep perservering and getting on the doctors back - good luck.

Kids at this age have strange appetites. My kid is 15 and went through the same stage.I am sure he will snap out of it and you will be wanting to know next why he wants nothing but some other item.
That all said, most kids are so on the go and not wanting to sit through a long meal. Stopping to eat may cut into their busy agendas! Make sure that every night for dinner the family sits at the table. Do not force him to eat but make it a rule that everyone sits there for 10 minutes. Talk and be together. After he finds himself sitting there with nothing to do a few times he will start to eat a bit more each time.
Another thing is this. Make sure he gets some vitamins in the morning and starch (toast). Both of these will help to increase the appetite.
Do not overly worry unless this continues for a long time. I am sure it is just a stage and soon he will be driving you nuts with a new craving.

its not uncommon for boys to have problems with food, its not uncommon but its not recognised yet ... as long as he is eating something kinda healthy its not to bad, i know how frustrating this is to u but please don't ever force him to eat something ! u will set him back so much more .. instead get ur Son to make up separate menus on paper or something more fun like a paper plate, then get him to pick the meal each night, make that meal for everyone put it in front of him and don't make a big thing about him eating it just gently nudge, he needs to learn about the tastes of foods again, do a star chart first start off with a star for each mouth full he takes, when he gets 5 ( not all from the same dinner or day) he gets a treat, give him the choice of two treats, i know it sounds like a lot but it really does help, and as for no one taking it serious i wouldn't stand for it, go to a health visitor or demand ur doctor (u can do this its ur right) to put u in touch with a specialist. good luck for u both, oh and dont take away the food he likes (cereal) just dont give in to easy, bribe if u can but dont push :)

Cereal does not have all of the nutrition that a growing 12-year-old needs. I'd stop buying it for the time being. Once he's hungry enough, he'll eat other food; it just might take him a bit longer to discover which "adult foods" he likes. Switch him to a healthier breakfast, too, like toast with an egg or oatmeal. Good luck!

Dont buy any cereal and dont give him any money he will soon enough start to get hungry and will start eating properly. Why dont you add spice etc..... to the cereal and if he notices tell him its because he has got use to eating cereal that it wont taste nice anymore. Make sure you keep adding it to the cereal and hise it from him so he doesnt find out its you!!

Hopefully you are giviing him vitamins supplements? Is it sugary cereal? If so he could be addicted to sugar.
Personally I would remove all cereal and leave other food available to him. Cruel to be kind, but maybe you have already tried this.
www.anderson-therapy.com phone me and I will see if I can help.

I used to slice bananas into my kids' cereal; strawberries, cherries, raisins - anything like that. You could also supplement his diet with vitamin/mineral tablets. These days they are chewable and taste nice. I'm sure he will grow out of it eventually.
