I've always learned in school that if i have sex with my sister, and she'd have babies, those babies could get all sorts of diseases and may end up being disabled.

I always thought this was nonsense, because I don't have a sister.

Anyway, incest is bad for the future babies.

Adam and Eve were founded or created or whatever. Their kids obviously commited acts of incest to populate the planet. I won't judge. Years later God flooded the entire planet, everybody died, except Noah and his wife. Which means the planet was re-populated again starting with incest.

I don't see all people being disabled or missing all sorts of chromosomes. Does that mean that scientificly double-incest takes away all the problems that are being caused from single-incest? Like in math - x - = + ?

Ah well, maybe I better ask this in the science section. Problem is that in the science section they don't buy these fairy tales.

I realize that none of this makes any sense but the reason given by theologians is that in the time of Adam and eve and moses as well, humans were closer to perfection than we are now and so incest was not genetically damaging

OK. Here's what I learned on that subject from a couple of years of Christian schooling: The theory (word not used in the scientific context here) runs that, back then, people were basically genetically superior to us in many many ways--the long lifespans of people in the Bible are looked at as proof for this. Because of said genetic superiority, the inbreeding *did* dilute the species--down to what we have today.

ETA: I've found that real scientists will happily entertain a notion long enough to make sense out of it. I remember reading an article in SciAm some years ago that stated that if Adam and Eve did exist, they would have had to be African pygmies, as they're the most likely genetic group on the planet to be able to create all the different types of people we have now.

hmm... were there more diseases centuries back or now? we have eradicated few diseases from the face of the earth... but new ones keep coming up..... i dont know much about Adam and Eve... but they must have been physically strong, not prone to diseases.... and todays man is prone to a variety of diseases.... it probably could be because of the centuries of incest...

"Adam" means "mankind" in Hebrew - "Adam" wasn't a single individual, unless you buy that nonsense that the Bible has to be taken literally, word for word (in which case it contradicts itself constantly). So it wasn't incest - it was modern misinterpretation of what the words ACTUALLY translate to.
