My girls arent too big on wanting to eat before they go to school either. Make it fun for him. Not the traditonal eggs, oatmeal, cereal type things. My girls love to just grab a granola bar (chocolate chip), any of the cereal bars like captain crunch etc., they like nutra grain bars as well. These have all the minerals and vitamins he needs. Canned fruit works. They love to eat a breakfast of just pineapple or sliced peaches. Poptarts or toaster strudels. Cheese toast. I make muffins sometimes they loveee those. So I think if you mix it up and its not just the boring blah cereals every morning you'll find that helps, it did for my girls. Doesnt have to be a traditonal breakfast to be healthy and an eaten breakfast is healthier than a non eaten one.

so ya thats my list, lol..also helps if you let him be part of the picking and deciding process in the grocery store.

cereal bars
pop tarts
toaster strudels
pineapple
peaches
muffins
cheese toast
granola bars..choc chip of course so he thinks he's eating junk food
frozen french toast sticks...they like them because of the individual syrup cups

Why isn't he eating?

Not enough time? Wake him up earlier so he has time to relax and eat.

Doesn't like breakfast food? Give him a peanut butter sandwich, or other lunch food that he likes. No one said we have to eat certain foods for breakfast. Or maybe he prefers something salty (scrambled eggs) to something sweet (cereal.) Or prefers hot vs. cold, etc. Ask him.

Says he's not hungry? I can't eat first thing in the morning either. Wake him up a little earlier and have him do everything first, and eat breakfast last thing before going out the door. If he still won't, sent him to school with a breakfast bar or piece of fruit.

May I ask, are you a good cook????? I guess you can cook and you would know what food your son likes to eat. I agree with you that breakfast is very important to school boys, those eat breakfast are more attentive than those who don't eat in the morning.

Try to prepare a yummy smoothy for him as breakfast, as kids mostly would like smoothies or milkshakes

blend some fresh or frozen strawberries + blueberries or banana + fresh orange juice + tofu (it wouldn't taste tofu because the fruit taste cover it up) + honey to mix as smoothy for him. He would have good vitamine C, protien,

Milkshake is good too, blend milk + frozen strawberries or banana + yogurt + sugar or honey or some vanilla ice-cream to make a big glass and let him bring it with him on the way to school.

You need to find out what kind of food he likes most and find some good recipes or simple versons to prepare in the morning for him.

Good luck,

Find out what his favorite foods are and try to come up with a breakfast that incorporates them in a healthy way.

Grapes are one fruit most kids like, and they are almost a dessert. Try bread with a tasty jam, maybe a banana or part of one. A glass of orange juice will make a nice healthy drink. You can give him chocolate milk if he likes the taste.

Make it a fun breakfast. Cereals are good. Watch out for too much sweeteners, though.

He doesn't always have to have a sit down breakfast to get the needed nutrients. Try making smoothies or milkshakes as an alternative. A good 1 is coconut milkshake - puree 100ml coconut milk with 1 banana, juice of half a lime and 100g frozen berries or exotic fruits. Tell him thats what his favourite character drinks.

May I suggest that you buy porridge oats and some dried, ready-to-eat apricots. Then let your son help you to make his own version of meusli by snipping two or three of the apricots into a small portion of dry porridge. Then stir in milk or plain yoghurt, although he may prefer a fruit one. Any combination of fruit can be used, of course, but apricots are full of iron and vitamins. All my Grandchildren are hooked on this at their own homes now. The porridge can also be cooked, of course, prior to adding the fruit. Can be prepared the night before.

Just wake the child little early than the usual time, so that he will feel hungry to eat. The most important thing is one of the parent has to be very strict that the child finishes his breakfast atleast for few days. It will become a habit for him to eat everyday.

My grandchildren are like this. My daughter started serving them what ever they wanted for breakfast. He theory was this was better then nothing. They have pizza, spaghetti, hot dog, etc.

Now, there are some limits. High sugar items are a no go.

Also, they choose what they want the evening before. If you are asking them to choose in the morning when nothing sounds good, you are behind the game.

Just make sure he has some food in his bag when he leaves, he will eat when he is hungry. You cant force someone to eat if they dont want to.

Then again, you could say you pocket money is based on credits and you can gain points by eating a healthy breakfast each morning.

I've never been a breakfast eater myself. Its the last thing on my mind in the morning.

The thought of food in the morning makes me feel sick. Maybe your son is the same.

If i were you, I would get some breakfast bars or drinks and give them to him after he has had a chance to wake up a bit.

Even if he doesnt eat them straight away, I'm sure he will eat them as soon as he feels up to it.
