Your wine will only taste bad if it is "corked". That is when a combination of air and the wine cause the cork to become rotten which results in a bad taste in the wine. This isnt really so acidic because some wines are supposed to be acidic but it will be really musty (especially the smell of the cork). This will be extremely noticable. Keep in mind that wine that goes bad isnt bad for you it just tastes awfull. It doesnt matter how old a wine is any wine can become corked. If it is you will know and the only use you can make of it is to return it to the store you bought it from(almost all stores will exchange it) or through it away. DONT COOK WITH IT if it tastes bad to drink why would cooking it make it taste better? Thats just stupid. If you want vinegar buy vinegar.

It is probably still good if it was never opened and the only way to find out is to open the bottle and taste it. You will know immediately.

Wine ages with time and can be very good but who knows what the cut-off to that rules is. You might want to taste it first; it shouldn't make you sick.
