im not sure either, but what i do know is that once ive sorted the kids breakfast, pack lunches ect out i aint got time to put loads of makeup on. these women must either have older kids to sort things out or get up an hour earlier to do it. i understand they do it to look nice and feel more confident but at that time in the morning does any1 really notice.

For all of the previously listed reasons & many, many more.Because every woman in the school playground is different - just like all the other women who dont turn up in a school playground are different.

Generalising all women that happen to take children to school in the morning as set apart somehow from women who dont is ridiculous!

Personally, some days i put make-up on & others i don't wear a scrap - regardless of whether i'm going to be on the school playground!

I have known women who by age 13 didn't feel fully dressed if they weren't wearing full makeup. Their moms were probably the same. These girls wouldn't even leave their bedroom in the college dorm to go to the shower without slapping on a bit of paint! I am a woman and I never wear makeup and people tell me I have beautiful skin. I'm 44 and no one believes it. Next time you go into a dept or cosmetic store, look at the salesladies; they all look like old boots. You can't tell me that gunge is good for you.
Three things to avoid to keep your skin young: sunbathing, smoking and constant makeup.
Three things that help: personal peace of mind, a healthy diet, and drinking plenty of water.

Assuming she's not straight off to work, I'm guessing to avoid a slump! When I have kids I have no intention of changing my morning routine, which includes hair straightening and full makeup. It's the start of her day. Just because she isn't going to work doesn't mean she doesn't have other things to do, other places to go and people to see. If nothing else it would discourage her from just going back home to bed, which is what I always do if I leave the house without making the effort!

We'll use my mother as an example.
If she dropped my brother and I off at school back in elementary school, of course she would be wearing make-up and nice business clothes. It's the kind of job she had, and still does.
Not all mothers are the stay-at-home type, but for the ones that are and wear make-up... C'mon, if a woman really liked make-up, how often would she be able to wear it around her young children?? It's nice to indulge sometimes when the kiddies are at school so you don't have to wear the normal "mother of two" face. (This 'face' would have no make-up and make women look a bit ruffled from breaking up her childrens' fight... for the millionth time.)

Are you a male of the species? Women turn themselves out well, not because they're on the pull, but because it makes them feel better. For years I never left the house without eye make-up and I have a friend who adjusts her lipstick even if it's a dark night and we're only going 300 metres back to her flat.
Of course, they might be going on to work, going shopping or have a secret assignment. Why does it bother you?

Because some women like to make an effort, a lot of women just let themselves go then wonder why their partners go off with other women, some of the mothers with children in my daughters school look so frumpy it is unbelievable.

It depends on the woman! Some would rather die rather than being seen without make up! Reasons for make up vary, depending on an individual, from a desire to look good because some woman enjoy looking her best, to ... Lack of self confidence! Many women apply make up because and subconsciously view it as a protection against the world! To cover themslves with make up means they blank out problems, worries, feelings of unhappiness etc. They put on a face for others, prefer to look good and pretend that everything's fine! Rather than admit "Well you know i don't feel all that good haven't been for a while either". So it can also be an act of shyness, embarrassment, lack of worth! People often prefer to prject a positive self image rather than appearing raw as in ... Show themselves for what they are, vulnerable with their fears, anxiety etc.

Different women, different reasons. Some are fanatics about their make-up, some are looking for men, and some are simply on their way to work. Watch the attitude that goes with. Hurried is usually going to work, nice is just wanting to look good, flirty is after a piece of @ss

It's all about teasing the daddys. They may not actually want them but they want the daddys nonetheless to want them. They want to fuel their self esteem to see if they get noticed to see if they still got it. But yes we as rational people know if you have to do that to get noticed by a man then in turn you have low self esteem. Some women just need a constant reminder that they are pretty I guess. What they don't get is pretty comes from not trying, it's an inside vibe you carry.
