To the extent that I would want to know "why", I suppose it would bother me a bit.
From a total stranger I would probably do better overall than if the gift came from a woman I knew professionally or casually. And explaining a new house or new Hummer to my wife might cause me some grief.
All things said, I think I would rather not be in that position.
Besides, if any woman can't get the attention of any guy, she is using the wrong bait. May I suggest you change bait and set the hook lightly. He'll follow you anywhere if you don't try to drag him.
Good luck, hope you win the guy. I bet if he knew what he was missing, he wouldn't be missing it.

DO NOT do it!!! You'll come across as psychopathic!! Seriously think about how you'd react if a guy did it to you - I mean yeah you'd be like wow for about 5 seconds but then you'd be like - okkayyyyy - something aint right here!
Just go in - order a coffee and start chatting - I think the most forward you should go is to givehim your number and tel him you really like him and would like to get to know him better - so if hes interested - to give you a call.
You need to bear in mind that this guy could be married/have a girlfriend/ be gay - dont make a fool of yourself by lavishing a gift on him!!

She probably gave you an expensive gift because she wants you to overlook a big flaw in her personality. She's trying to cover up her insecurities with gifts!

You bet. I would refuse the gift, as I would not wish to be obligated in any way to a crazy lady.
If the guy is a scoundrel, he might just take you for every thing your worth.

anyone bought me a gift that didn't know me, i would not take them seriously. i would be even more suspicious if it was an expensive gift. i would respond more to sincerity.

he may look good but is he interesting?
does he like you?
it is a waste of time buy him anything as you do not know what he likes or if he already has what you may buy him
if you buy him anything before you get to know him you may as well give you money to a charity
