The lesson is do what you're told and don't push too many envelopes. Fall in line and you won't be turned into dust in the wind.

I think that Lot's wife (who wasn't even worthy of a name) is one of the best examples out there of God's cruelty. It's quite strange - God has the patience to allow Abraham to haggle the number of good people in Sodom like a street merchant, yet all Lot's wife does is take a look back - a perfectly human impulse - and instantly gets killed for it, leaving Lot's daughters to get daddy drunk and sleep with them so that they can 'carry on the line'...

What exactly is that all about? This is the God we whould worship?

Lot's wife looking back symbolized looking back on the life she had back there. All the sin, etc, she may have been one of those people who got as much from watching the sin as being an actual participant in it, as some people who like porn. God sees what goes on even if man doesn't. God may have known that was her weakness.

God has a higher standard than we do.
Lot's wife turned back toward her sin in her heart, and disobeyed God. Just like Eve disobeyed God. That is why they both had to suffer the consequences.
We too will suffer consequences for our disobedience--
"The soul that sinneth, it shall die"

Why do men listen to women if they aren't considered smart enough?

Remember Adam and Eve were equally wrong. If eve suggested, Adam too went ahead and did it

Science requires a curious mind. Relgion requires you to believe what you're told without asking questions. The two are at odds. They can not exist together in the same mind. **** religious people.

Adam-pbuh knew and was much closer to God than his wife Eve-pbuh for she was created later. Adam-pbuh had already been taught and was supposed to stay disciplined even if Eve-pbuh tempted him. but instead he chose to listen. so both were equally sinners. but they repented whole-hearthedly and God did forgive them.
