I once worked in a 24 hour store and was thankfull that the door had a lock on it. As I was the only employee on duty on the overnight shift the lock allowed me to go to the washroom or perform work-related tasks without interruption.
The big bonus was that I didn't have to allow entry to unsavory- looking or inebriated individuals, thus making my working environment more secure.
The door was locked from 9PM to 6AM and you had to buzz the doorbell at which point I decided whether or not to let you in.
I am happy to have educated you a little.

Is There Anything You Wouldn't Put A Lock On In This Day And Age. They Lock Up After A Robbery To Preserve The Scene So That The SOCO Isn't Dealing With Tainted Evidence. If they Didn't Have Locks In The Doors No Insurance Company Would Touch Them.

I will tell you answer....I used to work at a 24 hour store...Contrary to popular belief they do close, take wal-mart for example...they close at least once a year depending on where you are at and who the store manager is. Another reason is that sometimes stuff happens and they have to lock one set of doors....I/E the door jam is screwed up or the closer is broke and the door will beat the wall and break the glass. Somtimes the auto door function screws up and rather have a door beat a customer to death..it's better to lock it....make sense?

I know someone who worked the night shift at a 24 hour gas station. She had to lock it when she went to the bathroom since she was the only one on duty. She also locked it for 20 minutes to count her drawer.

In case the employees need to use the washroom or they have to do inventory. They need to secure the crime scene after they've been robbed. You know all that CSI stuff.
