Armageddon, the term, is derived from the name of the ancient city Megitto. The city was probably chosen due to the fact that it controlled four major trade routes in ancient times, and subsequently major and decisive battles were fought there. Today Megitto is an archaeological site due to its very well preserved historical strata, it`s possible to view 6000 years of sediment, due to a cutaway section, at once. This strata was possible due to the fact that many cities were built on top of the ruins of the cities before them and thus the ruins accumulated.

It refers to a city ("Megiddo") at the crossroads of three major ancient highways, so it was extremely valuable for commercial and strategic reasons, and there were at least 3 battles for it, so the battle for "the end of the world" has already occurred at least three times. For not being here, I feel pretty good - how about you?

It's a valley north east of present day Israel...the place where God will finally destroy all of the armies of the world. Then there will truly be peace on earth.
