You are sadly misinformed. Yes Jesus told some followers ho were with him to sell that they had and follow him however it was not a commandment for all of God's people. Understanding that Jesus fulfilled the law and no Christian is under law Please come to know Christ for yourself he is available to everyone and can make things clear for you. He reveals himself to those who seek him with a pure heart and he can reveal himself to you through his word and prayer. This lack of understanding of God's word is why all should come to him and know him personaly and not take every mans word.

The ones who truly followed Jesus did that (disciples) but there were many others who had families and kept their day jobs. If you remember Joseph of Aramethea, who ask for the body of Jesus was secretly a follower of Jesus so everyone wasn't expected to sell everything they had. If you don't take care of your family you were worse than an infidel. So don't take one passage and act like you know everything. Why do you care (if we don't bother you) that we love God and are happy with Him? Can you say your happy? You sure don't look like it from your picture.

u are thinking literally...? there are many ways that u can obey what Jesus said. it's not that u have to sell everything u have, illustration: have u seen the advertisement with an old lady begging for the last piece of biscuit to be eaten by the guy, then the guy gave only half of it... then the old lady became a fairy and asked the guy for a wish... the guy wished for a sports car and colored red... what makes it comic was that the fairy gave her a half car and colored red... the meaning - if the guy gave the whole biscuit, then he would have received a whole red car!

Jesus was advising a particular individual to do this it was never part of his teaching for ALL his followers for ALL time
if you take things out of context like the above implies then you can make the bible say almost anything you wish
hence the context is all important

Doesn't say anything about giving it to the poor.
Jesus told at least one of his disciples to leave all he owned with his family.
Jesus instructed ALL of them to sell all they own and buy a sword.
Jesus said for them to go out into the world with NOTHING in their pockets.
Jesus was telling all to not worry about money.
Jesus expected everyone to be poor, I guess. That makes us equal!
Jesus also told us to pay our taxes, give to Ceaser what is Ceasars.
I hardly think Ceasar needed money!
What score did you get on the SAT reading comprehension part?

RICH PEOPLE. If you have a lot of money and do not share and keep it for yourself then you are sinning. If everyone gave their possesions to poor people then the poor people would have everything then they'd probably convert and give it back! it would never end! If you have money to spare then yes you should give it away, if you scrape together a living on 300$ a month then you don't have to give everything away.

Hi!
I see your point of view...But you need to understand the idea behind the words.Jesus was addressing a man who deemed himself righteous because of the good things he did...He wanted to demonstrate to him that "he's still holding on to the love of money".By the way, there are many who sold their possession for Jesus as I write this. You can't understand the bible if you're not born-again.
