Definitely. Especially, those who preempt war. I am pretty sure Christ does not find justification in the death of so many innocent people, when then reasoning's were proven to be false. Also, Christians today seem to have a major lack of acceptance and compassion for people different them themselves. There is a lot of hypocrisy in today's christian culture, at least those within America.

Jesus would not be embarrassed by his modern followers. But he would be pissed about it.

I remember many a time when an "inspirational" bible thumper goes to a church - any regular church - and pushes her "inpirational" books and products down people's throats.

She's rich (because it's usually a woman, I have to admit), and she's preaching to people who would like to have enough money to pay their damn bills.

What was that about not selling stuff in front of church that Jesus talked about?

And I could mention many things on this matter but I'm simply going to answer your question like this:

Yes.

I hope not, but I find some truth in what you are saying. I think most people have a very casual relationship with Jesus and think they are saved. I am afraid that when the time comes he will say ," Depart from me I never knew you."

Yes, it could be that a large % would cause embaressment to me
Jesus would only be saddened

Luckily Jesus said - "not everyone who says Lord, Lord, will be saved"

So Jesus saw many of these people coming.

It is not all modern Christians but few of them whom the world sees but there are many silent good believers. Of course many are watching them and following them. That is the big reason why Christianity is spreading.

I do belive that in the way I think you mean it, that jesus would indeed be truly ashamed of the people who claim to follow him.

but, i also belive that he knows what his true role and purpose was, and of course, people having the beliefs stemmed from his actions and such are needed for the progression of things on the whole, and thus was sucessful.

Could it be argued that God-haters reject Him based on some of the foibles of His modern followers?

Yes. Follow Christ's example not man. Jesus desires us to be faithful. God will not judge us corporately but individually. Trust and Obey Jesus Christ.

Embarrassed would not be the word to use . He would probably find another length of cord to use as a whip and apply it liberally to all the hypocrites.

Have you ever thought about the offering plate in church? If God is real, why do they have to pass it? If you read these verses in the Bible, you can see that God claims to be extremely powerful and willing to answer any prayer:

Matthew 7:7
Matthew 17:20
Matthew 21:21
Mark 11:24
John 14:12-14
Matthew 18:19
Mark 9:23
Luke 1:37
Now consider this: Why don't the ministers and deacons of the church gather together every Sunday morning and pray to Jesus for the money they need? Why doesn't Jesus answer their prayers? Why do churches have to beg for money from mere mortals when there is an immortal, all-powerful God who should provide anything they ask for? Here is what "God" is saying:
Pray to me for anything and I will hear and answer your prayers. I say it in dozens of places in the Bible, but I like the way I say it in Mark 11:24 the best: "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." Anything you need -- money, love, happiness, you name it -- I am here to provide it for you.
Now, there is just one thing I need in return. I need your money. I need lots of your money. The Bible specifies that you tithe ten percent of your income to me, but think of that as a starting point. Feel free to give more!

Because even though I created the universe and everything in it, and even though I will give you everything you ask for in prayer, I can't give a cent to any church, ever. When they pass the offering plate at church, be sure to give generously!

This, of course, is ridiculous.
The reason why they pass the offering plate at church is because God is imaginary.
