I am worried. When a friend connected up his new TFT it 'blew' his graphics card and he is having to get a new graphics card for his pc. What precautions should I take when I connect my new TFT? I do not have the funds to buy a new card. :-((

You friend's graphics card was either defective or just old enough to be ready to break. Merely connecting a TFT is not dangerous in any way whatsoever!

You shouldn't have any problem, your friend was very unlucky - if you want to be on the safe side though make sure your computer is unplugged when you connect the cables
