Hi, I am planning to buy a identity theft protection program from Life Lock. Their price is $10 per month. Well I'm not sure if the price is right what I really like is the protection I get. I've heard really good feedback from them. Not to mention they are guarantee up to a million, if ever my identity got stolen. Heh nice isn't it?

Now my question is before I join? Is it really time to panic and everyone should buy identity theft program or I am just crazy or something?

Also I need to know if there is other programs out there that I should consider?

Oh, I almost forgot incase you wanna see Life Lock to check them out yourself before answering my question?

here's the site.

The Best Identity Theft Protection you can by is self investment. The 3-major reporting agencies offer you a free annual credit report if you have encountered identity theft issues on your credit reports and implemented something where they have to contact you if credit is applied for using your information. The best part about it is that its free and will only cost you time and effort. The best protection you have is yourself and your own attention to your business.

P.S. The best part is it does not affect your rating..
you should do a credit check annually to ensure you know where you stand and if you find something that's not yours or you don't know what it is you can dispute it for free.

It's about $20 a year, as an endorsement on your homeowners policy. You can buy a renters policy with identity theft coverage for about the same, $120 a year. So you're getting ripped off. The identity theft, doesn't cover anything done WITH your identity, except that first $50 or so that you aren't even liable for! So I think it's pretty much a big ripoff.

When you say they guarantee "up to a million" - in what? It's CERTAINLY not fraudulent usage!! It's probably "cost to replace your id's".
