I mean, the schools always give out so many different types of awards to reward students and all, but some people always get them and others who don't get them sometimes feel bad or jealous.

I DID get some award from my school but there were lots of other students competing with me for it and I could tell that they were a bit jealous of me cos this isn't the first time.

awards are sort of rewards or incentive.
in psychology it is called one of the reinforcers.
they motivate the person to increase response.
those persons who are likely motivated and their desire to get the reward is strong, then, they can get the award.
but for those who do not respond or doesn't work to get the reward, then, they are less likely to get it.
this will only result to frustrations as what u say as jealousy.
if u are jealous because you didn't get the award, then, it is a normal response.
but try to exert effort next time to get the award.

They want to reward good students and make the others jealous enough to work for that reward.

the awards are for motivation see if the people feel bad when they do not get awards they will do good next time to get the awards

schools give out awards because of being winner of the contest..Don't just be a jealous,If you are 'sport' that called 'sportsmanship' ,try your best in your class so that your teacher can get you..Hope you understand..like me,sometimes,I felt bad because I am not get caught,but I tried my best..but nothing happened..but you can do it if you just trust yourself and pray everytime.
