Funny you should ask...I recently went to a place that touts "REAL AUTHENTIC PHILLY" cheesesteaks, they made it sound so good I had to try one. Man, what a disappointment! The bread they used...they claimed it was not only a hoagie roll, but one they import direct from a bakery in Philly. Well, Philly can KEEP em' cause they were LOUSY!! Imagine a giant, unsweetened twinkie and you'll get the idea...I must've taken too long to eat it all cause the bread was so spongy and airy that it soaked up too much of the meat's juices and the bread fell apart and became too wet and soggy to eat!!

I'm sorry to say, but if THAT'S "authentic" philly, I'll stick with the FAKERS, thank you very much!! I prefer the ones that use thick, HEARTY, CRUSTY on the outside chewy on the inside italian or french rolls. Just no mayo though....With all the cheese and the meat and grease and such, mayo's just overkill....Yeccch....I'm feeling ill just thinking about it o_O
