Can't tell if you are Roman Catholic, Episcopalian, or Greek Orthodox. All three have Newark, NJ dioceses.
Fortunately, all three have similar practices. The official record of your baptism is an entry in the parish register of baptisms, confirmations, marriages, and burials. This is in the parish church in which you were baptized.
If you will call the parish office, they can send you an official letter giving the date, parents' names, and presiding clergy names.
The exception would be if the parish in which you were baptized is closed, in which case the parish registers are, in fact, at the diocesan office. Give them a call and they can also send you a letter.
In addition, all of the denominations we are talking about have a practice of transmitting a letter with that information to the next parish you join if you move to a new parish. So you can also call the most recent parish in which you were a member (or your family were members) and they can send you a copy of your letter.

The Newark Archdiocese website is at http://www.rcan.org, where you can find contact information.
In general, to get a copy of your Catholic baptismal record, you will need to send a photocopy of your identification card/driver's license, a letter requesting the record, and a $5 to $10 processing fee to the Archdiocese. The fee varies by Archdiocese as each diocese within the Catholic church is autonomous.

Baptism records? Is this a joke that a "church" would make records and say whether or not it actually happened? I'm not Catholic and was baptised, by choice, in a Christian church. I'm sure they made some sort of note about it, but RECORDS? What a joke! They gave me a piece of paper that said who performed the baptism and when and where. That was it.

nicely Obama's college records have by no skill been released. So what's the large deal about yet another flesh presser telling a lie. it somewhat is envisioned lately. If Obama can lie himself into the Oval workplace seat then entering right into a Councilman seat is chump change.
