Or do they just want to tax the heck out of us because it makes them feel morally superior?

For the record, smokers place no extra burden on the health care system. Everyone dies. Non-smokers end up in the hospital with some sort of cancer or disease just like smokers do. they just do it about ten years later. All that time they are drawing social security, medicare, etc. Smokers don't cost the healthcare system a dime. We SAVE government money!

Obviously there are many non-smokers in here who love rubbing their superiority in my face. I guess that answered my question didn't it?

I think it's a little of both. I'm a non-smoker who encourages smokers to quit for health reasons, but I don't nag about it. I don't liked being harassed about my weight, so I'm polite to smokers.

Most of non smokers do not really care about smokers'health. They do not care also to their health if they sit beside or near a smoker..Non smoker is also called as passive smoker.According to a research a passive smoker is more danger than a smoker if he/she is often be nearing a smoker.By smoking we will have lung cancer, infection in our throat or high blood tension. For woman smokers will have the possibility of miscarriage if they often smoke while they are pregnant..The smokers are selfish people.Even in Jakarta we have a law that prohibite people for having smoking in public area,I still see many people smoking in public area. They are not comply to the law because we have a weak enforcement although its punishment is heavy..(Rp 1 million or US $108,- for one event). They are not worried the bad effect of smoking because it will be accurred in a long period.

Yes we care, because our taxes go to pay for your healthcare when you get lung cancer and can't afford chemo.

Only if it's family or friends.

But I do respect their rights to smoke. Afterall, I used to love my cuban cigars. If they want to do that to their body it's their choice.
