it is all in the leverage, if the dummy looks like a human you need to get under the arm pits and grip your hands upward and your face should be next to it's head and then walk backwards with your knees kind of bent when you are stepping.

if it is a blanket pull you need to grab the blanket as close to the dummy and pull with the same type of stepping motion. it is all in the momentum of the pull, once you start moving the dummy don't stop the motion, until you have reached the end of the required 35 feet.

another thing is if your adrenalin is up you will be surprised of what you can do. don't think about it just do it.

good luck and if you have a positive attitude about it you will be patrolling NYC before you know it.

Do yo actually have to drag or can you carry the dummy? Because the best way to lift dead weight is to use the "Firemans Carry" an average person can lift more that way but only if it is possible for you to do that. If you have to drag them I am sure that you can especially if you say that you are athletic. Good Luck

Yes - just think of something that really made you angry and get your adrenalin pumping before the test. Also, ask if you can try it out before hand, or, get your friends to get two 100 pound flour sacks tied together and see if you can drag that 35 feet. If you can drag 200 pounds 35 feet, it will be easier to drag 175 pounds, and you will know that you CAN do it. Good luck with your test!

It's all lower body. Work on strength training and go to the gym. Take your proteins! That dummie might sound heavy, but when you drag it (not lift in on your shoulders) it is a lot lighter than you think. Try practicing at home. Get a man to volunteer, practice! Practice! You should definitely work on your strength training. If this is a career opportunity you should try your best.

How about carrying 175 lbs on your shoulder down a 50 ft. ladder
or down 5 flights of stairs ???
I do not believe women should be fire fighters....
Who would you rather come to your rescue in a burning building,
a 110 lb firefighter woman or a 175lb firefighter man ?
This is a situation where womens rights and feminists are going
to get people killed...

I am a 215 pound dummy, so I can lay down for you and you can practice dragging me around my house if you want. Just don't grind your heels into my manparts.

You'll have no trouble at all. Remember to concentrate your energy moving the dummy along the ground, not lifting it. You'll find once you get it moving it is easy as long as you don't stop.

Yes you can. Train for it by using the hip sled machine, your legs are more powerful than you might imagine.

Yes, once you get some momentum you should be able to drag it no problem. Your leg muscles should be able to get you started
Good Luck
