So far, no one has come back from the dead to tell us any of this. But, in our universe, we are going through time. It has a beginning, a middle & an end. The universe is aging. Since no man here is eternal, why would we assume that one of man's emotions would be eternal? It makes sense that it would. No then, love is not eternal.

God's Soul is perfect and a perfect Soul can love most. The more advanced a Soul is, the more it is capable of loving.
But people often confuse love with other emotions, such as attachment. Most couples are attached to one another, and initially perhaps attracted to one another. But when the divorce comes, they are capable to convert these emotions into hate. That means that they never loved.
Only love that stays regardless of the nature of a relationship, deserves to be called love. Love is an unconditional feeling. If a feeling directed towards another person or animal changes according to circumstances, it is not love, but something else.

God is love. 1 John. Love is eternal.
Jesus answered a questions from the saducces by telling them "you will be like the angles, neither marrying or being given in marriage." Love will be different in eternity because you will truely know God then and all suffering will be removed in heaven.

Love is eternal, but those that are a part of the second resurrection, are not to marry or be given in marriage.

It's nice to set high standards for ourselves, but it's important to be realistic, too. God's love can be eternal because God is eternal. I don't know that we can say the same for ourselves.

Love is love; all forms of love are maximal. Love is eternal because only love exists. God is Love, we are love. We love in this eternal spacious present called, "Now".

Yes. But love is not a feeling. It's a commitment. When teenagers were given a fake baby to take care of they didn't feel any love. But after taking care of the fake baby for so long, when it was time to take the fake baby away, some cried. Why is that?
