How come when I ask a question or debate a biblical issue--someone or many come up with answers and just say "read the bible" I have, and none of your verses scare me. I am trying to find answers, that is why I ask stuff in the first place. I and I think I speak for many others do not want a bible verse thrown at me that has nothing to do with my question. I have read through the entire bible, save skipping past the so and so begat so and so parts. I can understand what 'figurative' language is. Most of the people on here in their answers prove that they have not even read the bible in the first place, or at least understood it. Then they say they believe in it all. They just went by what they heard at church or whatever. Try looking stuff up on your own, since you know the bible so well.

I am sorry if my fellow Christians have been lazy in their studying, or answering. They should know that we are to defend the gospel, and that we are to be ready with an answer, when someone asks.
I promise you if you have serious questions I will answer them to the best of my ability. I do tend to go into great detail though..

because a lot of people take the bible as the word of god, they forget that it is more an instruction manual to being a good person, i will admit that i never completely read it, but to me it was just like any other book and i knew what was going to happen before i even turned the page, but what i got out of it was that it was more an instructional reference more than an absolution on the word of god. nobdoy knows gods word, cause god hasn't spoken since jesus died, at least not to me.

I think that when we pray we talk to God, but when we meditate we listen to Him. I believe all the answers you need are within you if you're willing to hear them. According to the Bible, God loves you, Christ is your Lord and Savior. Everything else in it is just gravy.
