"Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is the only unpardonable sin the Bible speaks of. Everything else is covered by grace if you repent and don't do it again. He is a God of wrath and Judgment, but His mercy is everlasting."
I would like to know that why an all-powerful all-knowing God would be wrathful? If GOD did exist and was this Supreme Being wouldn't the analogy be that of a father and his children? And if so why don't you good Christians damm your children when the mock you? The whole premise makes no sense at all. You Christians scramble things around too much for me. I'll stick with occum's razor, and trust in evolution and the big bang.

Yeah, I know...I won't be going to Heaven. Oh well, but I won't be going to hell either...why because neither exists!

who makes this stuff up? No rational person living today would write the drivel that the bible is filled with. 1st century goat herders maybe.

Hey I'm not the one who wrote this stuff, nor am I the one trying to explain it. You may think what you will, personally I find it strange that anyone would believe a text that is several thousand years old and is not even close to what the original meaning was.

Excellent question.
I can't give you a good answer, because I have the same question about the blasphemy concept as you do. The part that I feel differently about...is that I do believe in the positive elements of it all. I think a Higher Power exists that is a loving energy source.
It does seem odd that an "all forgiving God", would leave just one unforgivable sin, and then not clearly explain what that sin is. I would think that the one unforgivable sin would be the "focal point" of the Bible and would be clearly and repeatedly explained. As a parent, I repeat things to my children to ensure their safety. "Look both ways before crossing the street"....broken record about that lesson.
I'm not a Christian, nor an Atheist, but I like your question.

There seems to be a lot of confusion involved here, in the question, and in the answers. It is easy to confuse issues when a message is given by Divinity in abstract terms and people give it human interpretations.
According to "Rational Spirituality" the answer is simple: God will entail three superior Souls. The most wise Soul in the Universe (in Christianity the "Father", the most caonsiderate Soul in the Universe (in Christianity the "Son") and the most brave soul in the Universe (in Christianity the "Holy Ghost"). When this trinity becomes One, they will take complete charge of all events in the Universe. That time is fast aproaching.
But they will have divided responsibilities. The "Father" will ensure there is education, growth and justice in the Universe. The "Son" will ensure that every Soul receives education, and that every Soul is looked after, and the responsibility of the "Holy Ghost" is that of the Defender of the Universe. He ensures that cohesion is intact, and that evil does not threaten the good. The role of the "Holy Ghost" is comparable to the head of police or the army, on the spiritual plane. That is why he is associated with punishment.

You're right, to a degree. God is our Father. A loving Father who forgives, but will give correction and discipline.
Blasphemy is unforgivable, but only to the extent that we turn from God and refuse to accept Him. When someone does not believe God can or will, (or especially, has the ability) to forgive their sin. If we choose to be separated from Him that is how it remains...unforgiven by our actions and choices.
This other writer, and you as well, seem to not understand what the "unforgivable" sin really is. When you come to God with true contrition and ask to be forgiven, like a loving parent, He will take you back in. Read the parable in the Gospels Jesus told us of the Prodigal Son.

Check out this article about Dominionists and animal/child cruelty. I do believe that some of them are cruel themselves, and therefore worship a cruel God.

If God was wrathful, he wouldn't have given us the right of free choice, or tell us in advance that certain choices would have certain consequences.

trouthunter,
Whoa! I'm not surprised. He thinks that we scramble things!
He doesn't understand the atoning work of Jesus, making the Law fulfilled by faith, not by the works of it!
I hereby sentence him to Romans 3.
Court is adjourned!.
