This is a 3 parter.
1. I have been seeing a girl for 3 wks. Her ex just moved in with her. He treated her like crap, but I get the vibe that she will go back to him. How do I keep her from doing that?
2. Why do women gravitate towards men that treat them badly?
3. How can get better at dealing with women? I have a decent personality, but certain women have this mystique about them that I can't seem to crack.

1) Trust your instincts with your gf situation and be upfront with her about how you feel. Find out why she feels comfortable moving back in with her ex and what she hopes to accomplish my doing so. If her answer is anything besides "to get half the rent" then you are probably right to be concerned.
2) We gravitate to men that treat us badly because we want them to make it better. To show us that their past behavior was a mistake and that they really do love us and want to treat us well. It's sick and twisted and ingrained in our psyche. I realized this recently about a really abusive (not physically but every other way) relationship I just got out of. I caught myself thinking "What would he have to do to make all this better and have me take him back?" and really wishing I could come up with an answer and that he would do it, but I couldn't even come up with an answer to that question so thankfully it was clear to me I had made the right decision.
3) Women can't be cracked, there is no secret. Some people communicate better than others. Some people have a natural vibe and comfort between them and others don't. You'll come across women that vibe well with you the more you open yourself up to various types of women. You go for one kind of chick and you'll get the same thing over and over again. We're not as unique as we'd like to believe we are. The look, the scene and the attitude all go together. So mix it up. Try new looks, new places and hopefully you'll find some new personalities more suited to your own.

You apparently like ths girl. Women like bad boys b/c they hope to change them or they like the rush of doing what they shouldn't. My advice is this: tell her you neither like nor trust the guy (and when she asks, tell her, "I don't know. Just something about him weirds me out.") she is living with.
As for dealing with the ladies, you have 2 options: either play the game and be the asshole she thinks she is looking for or be yorself and wait for the right girl to come along (and she will). But seriously, ask the ladies which one actually works out (be yourself)

some woman have an 'emotional comfort zone' where they are more comfortable being mistreated. Woman are more emotional and tend to believe easier that they are bad or deserve punishment if not raised with accpetence and love.
you can't crack someone that won't help themselves
