Probably not that far above you but nevertheless a lesson I have learned. It is best to simply smile and say nothing at all than to speak negatively of a person or spread gosip. It will ALWAYS come back to haunt you and can do untold damage to friendships and relationships.

The most important thing I learned as an undergraduate is Godel's Theorem. It states that any logical system that is strong enough to encompass number theory is either inconsistent or incomplete. This means that either there are truths of mathematics that cannot be proven (incomplete) or that there are contradictions of Mathematics (inconsistent). In other words, we have to make a leap of faith to believe that mathematics even works.
The most important lesson I learned in Graduate School is that I don't think like other people. All my life, I wondered why other people couldn't understand things that were so obvious to me. It was a real revelation to discover that I am the one who is different.

Seriously..the lesson I learned is... when we are young (like teenage years) and wish to be older (like 25 or so)the weird thing is when we ARE older we wish we were young again. The lesson is ENJOY each day for what it is and for who you are! Live and let live!

What I have finally learned in life and try to teach my children is simply that sometimes you have to agree to disagree.
There will be times in your life when you are positive that you are right and nothing can change your mind and you truly believe the other person is wrong. On the flip side of that, the other person feels exactly the same about their opinion. I have seen many friendships, relationship and family bonds ruined because of this.
When this happens, the best thing is to agree to disagree. You must both agree that even though you feel that you are right and the other person is wrong, each of you is entitled to your own decision and accept that you will not agree on this one situation, and go on with life.
In conjunction with this, part 2 is that "You can love someone but sometime you don't like decisions they make." Sometimes people you love do things you don't like or think is wrong. You don't have to hate them or abandon them because of it, you just have to accept that they made this decision. Sometimes, this decision is so severe that you don't want that person in your life anymore. Sometimes, you just have to tell them, I don't like what you are doing, but I still love and support you.

My answer isn't very advanced, but it helps me; if I find myself lying about something, that means I really screwed up somewhere and I need to fix it. Lying is my "reality check".
I can normally avoid lying by trying to do things right the first time.
If I can think of something else I'll add it later.

Respect your elders so that the ones yound\ger than you respect you too when you get old.
There's nothing worse than being old and shifted from place to place like old luggage. That's happening a lot these days and children are dumping their parents at the Old Peoples' Homes. They dont realize that one day they will be dumped too.......
