First dates are a turn on in themselves. They are a new start, an uncharted path. Men on a first date are primarily trying to get you to tell them that you like them and that you want more. Is that so different from what women want? I think not.
The biggest turn off is when the girl doen't feel the same way.

Trying to hard to impress me with super kind gestures when it is obvious that he doesn't do those things on a normal basis. Confidence in kindness is a must on a first.
I will never have a first again, however.

For me, bad hygiene. That is, a crappy manicure and pedicure, bad breath, foul body odor, and poor clothing choice. You're important enough to me that I do my best to look acceptable, I would expect the courtesy of your doing likewise.

just happened to me...
first date, cell phone rang - i thought...okay, maybe kids need mom.
it was a guy...I could hear the deep voice...she became expressive and animated "HIIIIiiiii baybeeee!!!!"
so I wrote on a napkin "Your son?"
she shook her head to the negative...
*sigh*
i got up gave the waiter double what the meal would cost and walked out.
if you aren't 911 for your kids...don't answer your phone
