Lettuce won't go bad in 2 days. I leaf heads of lettuce all the time, and throw it in a bowl and throw some aluminum foil on it. It remains green for a few days. Before leafing it though i run it through ice cold water, and then let sit in ice cold water for a bit though. This makes the lettuce a lot crispier. I also leaf it by hand and never use knives because it causes the lettuce to rust.

Rub the lettuce with lime or lemon juice because it has acidity to oxidize it. Then wrap the lettuce in a damp cloth (make sure its not wet) or towel to keep it moist, drying will make it wilt and die. Put it in a zip lock bag inside the crisper of your fridge. It should last 5 days longer.

Lettuce is touchy and hard to keep for very long, but you can keep it a tad bit longer if you keep it in an airtight container, like tupperware, and if you have enough room in that container, turn a saucer upside down in the bottom of it and place the lettuce head on top of that. All of the water moisture that the lettuce normally sits in and turns brown from will run down the saucer and collect underneath.

If the lettuce is already shredded/cut, put it in a container and fill with enough water to cover lettuce completely and store in the fridge. That should work.

keep it tightly sealed. Try a couple more layers of wrap or even a Glad storage size baggie, make sure it's in a crisper as well.. the less air the longer it will last.

Another suggestion is if your just using it for taco's or salads try the Salad Express in a bag stuff.. they even have just shredded lettuce. Yes it's a little more expensive but it lasts MUCH longer than a regular head of lettuce.

This somewhat works!!! Take a extensive pot or scour your kitchen sink somewhat nicely. upload ice and water to attain a temperature of 40 5 tiers. chop up your lettuce and put in the icy water for quarter-hour. Scoop out the lettuce and drain for a jiffy. place the lettuce in a ziplock back and smoosh the air out. The lettuce will stay crisp and eco-friendly for various days.

Don't buy prebagged lettuce. The knives used to cut it are iron and that will cause the browning. When you get home from store, wash and thouroghly dry lettuce, try to spin it dry in a pillow case in washing machine on spin cycle (realy works) and store in air tight container between paper towels.

Or only buy what you'd use in a day.

Make sure it's in the crisper, and also make sure it isn't wet - take out any leaves that have already started to wilt b/c that just accelerates the problem. Airtight containers help too.

Buy a plastic lettuce holder. They are great. It has a air
hole on the side, when you put the lid on you just open the one hole. It makes like a small burp sound. Leave the one hole open. You may purchase it from Tupperware.

Get a thermometer. It sounds like your fridge is too cold. It should not wilt that fast.

Otherwise, try sulphites. Wine makers use it.
