oh yes! it's great not only for digestion as mentioned but also for fevers/colds as it warms the body and increases metabolism. the ginger root itself is much more potent than store bought tea. simply slice the root (after cutting away the outside peel) into a couple cups of water. i use about a thumb full amount - although I like my ginger tea really strong. play around with the ratio of ginger root to water. boil for about 10 min covered (this will steep and increase the extraction process). add some honey and lemon for taste and enjoy. You can save the tea for the following morning as well. store in the fridge and reheat.

I have not boiled an actual root but I have tried Twinnings Ginger & Lemon tea and it is great. It is super effective on stomach aches and digestive problems. If you let it steep for too long it gets a bit spicy tasting, and isn't as good. Steeped for about 5 or 10 minutes It tastes good, and is refreshing. It is inexpensive and comes in individual packets. You can buy a pack of 5 or so packets to try it so you dont have to buy a huge amount just to try it out. I would think that boiling a root may be hit and miss, may taste very strong, to the point of being horrible, and boiling may reduce some of the good qualities. Tea is just steeped in very hot water so it may preserve some of the beneficial ingredients. Also mint tea is great for an upset stomach.

I've never boiled the ginger for the health benefits, BUT one of the greatest remades for a sore throat and upset stomach is taking a fresh ginger root, some lemon, and honey. Boil together the ginger root and the lemon. Then add the honey into the cup before you pour the boiled solution into your desired cup. I always use this combination when I'm sick and it always makes me feel better!

yes but also just as ginger tea for its flavor. slice very thin or grate. Sliced root can be steeped several times before all the flavor is gone but grated is more instant and not as much is needed to try a pot. Don't try to make it too strong because ginger is spicy hot if very strong. I have also had it in vodka and as ginger beer. the booze helps to extract the spice. It is still better in food and in ginger candy to my way of thinking.

when I have a cold or sinus problems I grate up fresh ginger root and drop it into boiling water. Take the water off the burner and cover the pot. I let it sit for 5-10 minutes then strain the water and drink it.

Yes. Ginger is helpful for sinus headaches and any kind of congestion. I take the skin off, chop it in small pieces and boil it for about ten minutes to get the juice out. I also breath the steam while it's boiling.

Yes, I do . I like dry ginger powder in tea, too. I add lemon and honey. Ginger is good to drink when you have colds or flu. It settles your stomach and makes you nice and warm.

I eat raw ginger with an apple (and also raw garlic with an apple) and it's great. I also buy the ginger tea that's fantastic as well, great for an upset stomach.
